After 49 years, a two-year process, two consultations with our members and ICOM’s final approval, ICAMT redefines its name, acronym and becomes ICOM ARCHI-TECHS!

1948
Former name of the committee: International Committee on Museum Techniques.
Listed in ICOM News, 1st of October 1948.
1949
Creation of the International Committee on Museum Techniques at the 4th session of the Executive Committee.
1977
Publication of the committee’s Internal Rules; the committee uses the ICAMT acronym.
Museum Architecture appears as an official theme.
2024
ICOM launches the Redesigning International Committees’ Acronyms Campaign.
2026
New acronym!

OUR NEW LOGOS: IMPLEMENTATION:

All ongoing projects will continue to use ICAMT as a reference, while ICOM ARCHI-TECHS will be introduced for all the new committee’s activities.
